The Avenue logo tells a powerful story of legacy, faith, and unity. It represents two historic congregations, Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church (established in 1890) and Western Avenue Baptist Church (established in 1916), coming together as one shared ministry and a renewed vision.

The image of the street sign at the intersection of two directions is more than a design—it is a declaration. It symbolizes how God has led both churches on unique paths that now converge into a single road forward: The Avenue.

The Shape of the Cross

The form of the signpost intentionally mirrors the shape of the cross, with its vertical and horizontal extensions.

• The vertical post represents our upward connection with God—our worship, prayer, and spiritual foundation.

• The horizontal arms represent our outward connection to others—our fellowship, service, and love for the community.

Green reflects vitality and new life—the same life that God continues to breathe into The Avenue. The arrows point in different directions, honoring the distinct journeys of Mass Ave and Western Ave, yet both signs are fixed to one post—symbolizing unity in Christ and shared direction in mission.

The gold lettering and glow represent divine presence and enduring legacy.
Gold reminds us of God’s faithfulness through every generation. The shimmer of the founding years, 1890 and 1916, honors those who came before us, whose faith and labor laid the groundwork for what God is now doing anew.
