Church Anniversary Month: Celebrating God’s Faithfulness

For over a century, two historic congregations — Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church (founded in 1890) and Western Avenue Baptist Church (founded in 1916) — have stood as beacons of faith, freedom, and fellowship in the heart of Cambridge, Massachusetts. This November, The Avenue joyfully celebrates 135 and 109 years of ministry, honoring the unbroken legacy of God’s faithfulness through generations.

This year’s anniversary theme, “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness,” invites us to reflect on the steadfast love of God that has sustained our churches through seasons of change and growth. As we continue our shared journey as The Avenue — the historic coming together of two sacred institution — we pause to give thanks for the saints who have gone before us and to embrace the future God is unfolding among us.
