Rev. Brenda A. Brown
Reverend Brenda Ann Brown is a trailblazer in ministry and a faithful servant of God whose life exemplifies dedication, compassion, and steadfast commitment to the Gospel. Having received her divine calling as a teenager, Reverend Brown has spent her life fulfilling God’s plan through preaching, teaching, and community service. A lifelong learner, she pursued theological and academic training at institutions in both Boston and New York, including Andersonville Theological Seminary, preparing her to serve with both wisdom and excellence.

For more than thirty years, Reverend Brown has been a devoted member of the Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church. In April 2015, she was ordained as Senior Pastor, becoming one of the few women to lead a historic Baptist congregation in the city of Cambridge. Her leadership was marked by spiritual vitality, community engagement, and an unwavering commitment to justice and compassion. Under her pastoral care, MABC deepened its outreach efforts, strengthened its ministries, and continued to serve as a beacon of hope and faith for generations of believers.

Reverend Brown’s heart for service extends far beyond the pulpit. As the Executive Director of the Project Manna Food Program, she led efforts to provide hot, nutritious meals to individuals and families in need—demonstrating her belief that true ministry meets both spiritual and physical hunger. Her tireless work in the community earned her the NAACP Award for Community Service in February 2015, recognizing her remarkable contributions to the City of Cambridge and surrounding areas.

Deeply rooted in both faith and civic leadership, Reverend Brown has served on numerous local and national committees. She is an executive board member of the Cambridge Black Pastors Alliance, President of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Boston and Vicinity, Vice President of the United Baptist Convention Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Scleroderma Foundation National Board. Her ministry has also extended internationally—reaching as far as London, England—where she has inspired and empowered women and leaders to walk boldly in their God-given callings.
Reverend Brown’s work as one of God’s missionaries continues to reflect her lifelong dedication to advocating for the advancement and welfare of all people, particularly those marginalized or without a voice. Her life’s mission is rooted in love, justice, and service—promoting the interests of others while glorifying God in every endeavor.

Today, as Pastor Emeritus of the Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church, Reverend Brown remains a beloved spiritual mother, mentor, and guide to the congregation and community she has served so faithfully. She truly embodies the heart of ministry, the strength of servant leadership, and the joy of living life to the glory of God.
